Apart from gaining sales from your site using your products and services, there are several options open to you to make a few extra pounds. Depending on how successful your website is and how many hits you receive to it, you could create a small income from selling advertising space on your site. There are companies out there who will find you advertisers looking for sites based around what products or services you provide without encroaching on your business.
Another form of advertising to consider is through the Google Adsense program.
It's extremely simple to set up, you just create a Google account, choose which type of advertising you want on your site, copy and paste the code onto the page you wish to run the adverts and Google do the rest. Affiliate programs may be worth a try, I don't find many of them have worked for me that well, but for some they have so worth at least checking them out.
The way it works is you set up an account with an affiliate manager such as tradedoubler or affiliatemanager. Then you go through a list of companies and choose which one or which products you wish to advertise on your site. It goes without saying, make sure that you are advertising products or services related to your website.
You then pick the text based advertising or banner for your site and add this to your website using sinple HTML coding. It's similar to the Google Adsense in that you get paid to attract customers to that particular comapnies services or goods. The only main difference being is that a majority of the affiliate programmes only pay out once that customer has made some kind of purchase. Google Adsense adverts pay out for the customers just clciking on the sponsors listings.
Another way to gain advertising revenue from your site is to approach other businesses who may find it beneficial to them to have an advertisment feature within your site. You would however need to be generating a substantial amount of unique hits to your site to persuade another comapany to part with money to place a feature within your site though, but sometimes persistance pays off too!
